“Waking Life sprouted from a common dream of a group of friends to build a community, in a sunny spot on the globe, to plant ideas and harvest tangible, alternative ways of living, learning, loving. It is slowly blooming into a space for artistic experimentation, spirited self-expression and collective imagineering of the type of society we could cultivate if there was freedom to diverge from default reality.
Speaking of default reality, on the admin side of things, Waking Life is a not-for-profit association registered in Portugal, largely operating on a voluntary basis. While our yearly gathering in June has been the cornerstone project to date, Waking Life is more than the festival — it’s a multidimensional community project, with budding cultural, countercultural and agricultural initiatives.”
The meeting starts today, June 7th, and runs until June 12th!

“O Waking Life brotou do sonho comum de um grupo de amigos para construir uma comunidade, num lugar ensolarado algures no globo, para plantar ideias e colher formas tangíveis e alternativas de vida, de aprendizagem e de amor. Está lentamente a florescer como um espaço de experimentação artística, autoexpressão espirituosa e imaginação coletiva do tipo de sociedade que poderíamos cultivar se houvesse liberdade para divergir da realidade predefinida.
Falando de realidade predefinida, na dimensão administrativa das coisas, o Waking Life é uma associação sem fins lucrativos registada em Portugal, funcionando em grande parte com base em voluntariado. Embora o nosso encontro anual em junho tenha sido a pedra angular do projeto até à data, o Waking Life é mais do que o festival — é um projecto comunitário multidimensional, que se faz acompanhar de iniciativas culturais, contraculturais e agrícolas.”
