What happens when you tackle a puzzle four times, with different tools every time?
M3STR shows us the results effortlessly in this new body of work. If the aim was to move, we are moved. If the aim was to surprise, colour us shocked.
From the get go, with the dubbed, airy yet hefty turn on the half-tempo undulations of “Stillness” and the perpetually suspended in mid-air with the swung-techno patterns of “Feathered” with bass coming in waves from below.
Things take a 4x4 impulse on “A Love Faded”, with sharp as a needle claps, and an exultant atmosphere , to finally leave us to the beat-broken, yet grippingly groovy “Shakey unit” a track with a title that hints to the masterful rhythmic play that can come of pangs of white noise.
The puzzle just needed its missing pieces, and M3STR found out quickly how they fit.
